W monografii przedstawiono rozwój instytucji kary łącznej w polskim prawie karnym od 1932 do 2023 roku, analizując jej przesłanki, problemy interpretacyjne oraz zmiany legislacyjne. Uwzględniono kwestie wyroku łącznego, zagadnienia intertemporalne i wpływ orzecznictwa oraz doktryny. Porównano także polski model kary łącznej z rozwiązaniami stosowanymi w systemie common law, krajach byłego ZSRR, Niemczech, Austrii, Francji i Hiszpanii.
